Education in the morden age

Two functions of education:
Broadly speaking, the two major functions of education are to transmit the culture, values and lessons of the past to the current generation; and to prepare our children for the world in which they will live.

Herbert Simon, Nobel Laureate, observed that the developments in science and information processing technologies have changed the meaning of the verb, "to know." It used to mean "having information stored in oneís memory." It now means the process of having access to information and knowing how to use it.

Marshall McLuhan says the computer and television have literally moved us into the world of pattern recognition and out of the world of mere data collection.

New 2006

As a gift to new year, I set up this Hammer & nails. The name comes from the sentence: "What we must avoid above all is designing technologically sophisticated hammers and then wandering around to find nails that we can hit with them. " This tells exactly my fear and dislike about computer science. Wanted to be the person who bring the gap... But then realized before this , I need to first finish and do well on what I am doing. So as they all tell, treating RA as a job, work seriously on it. No Procrastination!!!! Here , it is the place to keep track of my journey in Hammer and nails finding.
